What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Welwyn Preserve is praised as a beautiful hidden gem with peaceful trails, stunning Long Island Sound views, and a significant Holocaust Memorial. While some visitors enjoyed the graffiti-adorned abandoned greenhouses, recent reports indicate their demolition, which may diminish its appeal for some. Concerns include a lack of public restrooms and occasional littering.
"I used to love Welwyn, but all the abandoned buildings got demolished in March of 2024- not really worth going anymore. Go to kings park or something. The trails aren’t even good."

"Welwyn Preserve is a beautiful hidden gem on the North Shore. The trails wind through a mix of coastal woodlands, tidal wetlands, and scenic overlooks, making it a great spot for hiking and nature walks. The grounds are peaceful, the views are stunning, and it’s an ideal place to unwind and reconnect with nature.
That said, it’s disappointing to see some visitors leaving behind trash. This special place deserves more respect—please carry out what you bring in so everyone can continue to enjoy its natural beauty."

"We had a lot of fun walking the trails. 2 or 3 abandoned places that are very open and a few people walking around. Lots of cute little bridges and knocked down tree trucks that you walk across to cross the small stream.
I enjoyed seeing all the graffiti near the old garden. There also seems to be some possible unused maze or large garden if you go past the building with the garden houses. Everyone's very nice. Only saw one person with their dog off leash but he was nice"
