What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Madison Base is praised for its pleasant, ski-lodge atmosphere and excellent beginner to intermediate terrain, making it a family-friendly and less crowded option. However, some visitors note issues with poorly marked trails back to the base and the lack of bag storage facilities. The new gondola and upcoming lodge are seen as positive developments for the area.
"Madison Base feels much more like a ski lodge than a shopping mall. It's a much more pleasant place to rest between runs, IMHO. The trails to get back here from the main part of the mountain are not very well marked, so it's easy to get lost and end up trapped down by the main lodge or Madison 8 when the lifts close at 4 PM. The staff all seem to know about this problem, and have been very helpful about getting lost skiers back to their cars parked in the Madison Base lot at the end of the day. Thank you to all the workers at Big Sky for taking great care of your guests! 🙏🏻❤️💪🏻"

"Stopped in for a day of skiing. A bit cold and blustery, but really good snow. Nice long runs with varying pitches. Laid back family side of Big Sky."
Mike Penttila
"Great slopes for beginners and intermediate skiers. Not as crowded as the other slopes. As of Dec, 2018, there is a lot of new construction so I expect this area to grow rapidly. There are not many shops at Madison Base but it's fun for the family. There are several "magic carpets" to take the kids up the bunny slopes. We did not try the little restaurant but everyone piled in there at lunch, so it must be good. Our family had a blast."
