"Was at church for annual Galena Historical Society old homes, or this year churches of Galena "walk". This was one of 5 churches included in the 2021 Steeple Chase. Nice to hear the history of the building which is doubtful that everyone knows when visiting town. Fr. Samuel Mazzuchelli was asked to help design the original, just as he had done years before for St. Michaels (the Irish church), this one was for the Germans on this side of town. Interesting to learn that it had stayed fairly segregated until the last 25 years, most likely due to lack of time on Bishops part to come to Galena for two separate ceremonies. Beautiful painting to be seen from the north wing onto the altar, different view than most normal seating as well."
