"Went for a wonderful hike with my dogs - loads of marked and unmarked trails. We happened to be there during mud season and whoa! That caliche made the hike a challenge but it made it more fun. Gorgeous views of the Colorado River!"

"I LOVE Snooks! Fishing, hiking, disc golf, swimming, paddle boarding, bird watching😍 Also seems to be the place everyone likes to bring their dogs so if you love pups you'll meet plenty on a day at Snooks. It's quite a walk down to the water but they do have a paved pathway.
Note: If swimming I would recommend water shoes. They have a no alcohol sign posted but I find broken bottles on the shore frequently. All in all a perfect place to hang out on warm summer days ✨"

Disc Golf at Snooks Bottom
For those new to the course, it's helpful to be aware of the varied terrain. The path leading down to the water is paved, but the disc golf course itself involves traversing the hillside. This can be particularly engaging during different weather conditions. The open nature of the course means players can often enjoy expansive views while playing, adding to the overall experience.
When planning a disc golf outing, consider the time of day to avoid the hottest parts of the summer and to potentially enjoy fewer crowds. The course is a significant draw, so it's worth factoring into your visit if disc golf is a priority.
Water Activities and River Access
For swimming, it's highly recommended to wear water shoes. This is due to the frequent presence of broken bottles on the shore, a safety concern noted by multiple visitors. Despite this, the river provides a refreshing escape and a chance to enjoy the natural beauty of the area. Paddleboarders and those looking for a calm spot to cool off will find Snooks Bottom a suitable destination.
When planning your water activities, remember that the area is popular with dog owners, so expect to see many canine companions enjoying the river as well. It's a great place for dogs to swim and play fetch.
Hiking and Trails
For dog owners, these trails are ideal for taking their pets on a hike or for a game of fetch. The open space allows dogs to roam and enjoy the outdoors. It's advisable to wear appropriate footwear, especially if visiting during or after rain, as the trails can become slippery and muddy. The variety of trails means there's something for different fitness levels, from easy loops around the lake to more challenging routes over the hills.
