J Pod Orcas at Point Defiance as they leave Tacoma, WA and start their return trip home to the San Juan Islands. They have not been this far south in the Puget Sound since the Orca capture era 50 years ago. #jpod #southernresidents #orcas #killerwhale #endangeredspecies

Took our time walking around the Sculpture Park by Roche Harbor when we were in San Juan Island. A short drive from @snugresort. It was a beautiful walk around the grounds with lots of interesting sculptures to see, a couple of interactive sculptures and spots to sit and picnic. 📍San Juan Islands Sculpture Park and Nature Preserve

Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the San Juan Island Sculpture Park for its free admission, diverse collection of art, and beautiful natural setting. Many enjoy the interactive sculptures and the peaceful atmosphere, making it a great place to wander and relax. Some find certain art pieces less appealing or the park less engaging for very young children, but overall, it's considered a worthwhile and unique experience.

"I like that this place is free and open to the public. There are a lot of neat sculptures, mostly toward the front. I really enjoyed the fairy garden and miniature buildings. The whimsical woods was... More like a cheap Halloween trail in the day time? The art looked creepy as if it was from a cleaned out antique shop of trash and horrors. The pond trail was cute though, I liked the fish net sheep for example. It is still worth the visit even if not all the art is to your taste. I can say there is something for everyone here."

Heidi Vidovic

"Know before coming that this is pretty much just a huge area with several paths to stroll around and look at various sculptures in nature. Young children will probably get bored.

If you’re looking for a great place to unwind and relax, this will be your jam! I was actually surprised just how many art pieces there were and just how long the walk was. By no means do you need to see the whole place, but if you do, you’ll get a fantastic little workout in.

I’m not a poetry guy, but loved all the little poems displayed from local residents. Especially all the ones from school-aged children. Some really good work here and I couldn’t stop reading!

Parking and entry are free, however a $5 donation is recommended and I would say the time you will spend here will be worth far more than just $5."

Ryan Wallace

"Beautiful, tranquil outdoor space with unique sculptures and poems. We only had about 30 min, so didn't see the whole park. I would estimate that one could easily spend several hours enjoying the art and grounds."
