What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Oakwood Cemetery is a historic site with beautiful grounds and significant historical figures, but some visitors note areas of neglect and disrepair. While the rolling hills and architecture are praised, concerns about safety due to uneven terrain and the overall upkeep are present. Despite these issues, many find it a heartfelt and important place for reflection and historical discovery.
"I went to this cemetery to do some grave hunting. There were 50+ requests. I would say there are no markers of any kind, so it can be impossible to find plots unless you go to the office. I spoke with the woman in the office, and she was very friendly and more than happy to help. They also have a map in the office with all the plots and locations. I will be uploading this photo shortly."

"I thought i was in the wrong cemetery because it looked abandoned and neglected. But then amidst the broken branches, dried plots, and cracked headstones...there were other visitors. I figured they must have been accustomed to the dilapidated surrounding when visiting their loved ones.
What a shame because the rolling hills and winding paths provide an excellent view of the city.
As it is, the rundown condition of the place is a great disrespect to the number of prominent citizens buried here.
I only tripped once while walking and surveying the area but it has become not only an eyesore but a hazard. Somebody can get injured or worse."

"Such a heart felt place. Beautiful grounds with historic context. Continued prayers for those who rest here and their families. Incredible chapel. Must see. Paying respect to all those who watch over the cemetary."
