What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the House of the Seven Gables for its rich history, architectural significance, and beautiful seaside location. The guided tours are informative, and the staff is often noted for being sweet and helpful. However, some find the limited operating hours and days inconvenient, and WiFi connectivity can be an issue.
"Famously known as the House of Seven Gables, Nathaniel Hawthorne’s novel, the Turner-Ingersol Mansion tour is , One of the only timber framed mansions still standing in the continental North America. The tour takes you through the home, starting in the part of the home that was originally built, then gradually takes you to the additions that were added on a years after it was originally built. This was neat because you can see how low the ceilings were originally when Capt John Turner built the house, but after he acquired more wealth, the house transitions to higher ceilings (lower ceilings were less expensive to heat).
If you appreciate historical architecture and like to learn abt colonial living in general, I def recommend."

"The ladies who helped us here were so sweet and nice, and they really had great information on the surrounding area. We never could get the WiFi to work, however, and the limited days and hours can make it hard to reach them, but it's a beautiful building for the Fort Pierce Visitor Center."

"After numerous attempts to find it open, I give up! The sign says closed Thursday & Friday for Thanksgiving. Ok but open Friday Nov 25 at ? What time???
Maybe later, but not at 10:45."
