What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
GlenLakes Golf Club receives mixed reviews. Many praise its challenging layout and enjoyable atmosphere, with some finding it a great value. However, recent feedback highlights concerns about inconsistent course conditions and occasional issues with pace of play and staff attitude.
"Went with my son and son in-law. We had a great time. Wasn't too busy so we could take our time. Since walking in the front door, we were treated like PGA pros. Cheaper course but in great shape. A couple of the fairways were messed up in spots but they have had a decent amount of rain lately. We will come back next time we visit Gulf Shores area."

"First time here, gotta say I had a blast. Course layout is very fun and challenging. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens were in perfect condition for the price paid. I will be back!!!"

"I came to Glen Lakes as a spectator during a vacation visit with my family to see if golf might be something I’d enjoy. Unfortunately, the experience left a lot to be desired.
Right off the bat, I was charged a pretty steep $40 spectator fee — understandable due to the second cart — but the attitude from the front desk staff was unnecessary. No one informed us we’d be paired with two other players, which was surprising. Luckily, they were kind and kept pace with my father.
Despite waiting at nearly every hole behind a slower 2-player group, a course marshal pulled up about 6 holes in and rudely told us we were “holding up three groups” and needed to speed up. We never received an apology or clarification — just attitude and constant tailing from the marshal for the rest of the round. It felt more like being policed than welcomed.
We later stopped by the clubhouse to grab some water and a quick bite (it was extremely hot out), and although the bartender/server was very friendly, we waited around 15 minutes for food.
All in all, Glen Lakes did not offer the kind of environment that makes someone feel excited about golf — especially someone new to it. Between the poor communication, unwelcoming tone from staff, and being unfairly blamed for pace issues, I won’t be returning."

Understanding GlenLakes Golf Club Membership
Membership at GlenLakes can also grant access to other club amenities, such as the clubhouse and dining facilities. Some residents within the GlenLakes community enjoy these perks as part of their property ownership, while others may opt for separate golf memberships. Understanding the different tiers, such as those that might include family members or offer unlimited play, will help you determine the best fit for your golfing needs and budget.
It's worth noting that while some reviews mention the course being a 'cheaper course,' the value proposition of a membership depends heavily on how often you plan to play. For avid golfers, the cost of a membership can quickly outweigh the per-round green fees, offering a more predictable and often more enjoyable golfing experience.
Navigating Course Conditions and Pace of Play
Pace of play is another aspect that has drawn commentary. Some players have enjoyed a relaxed round with fewer crowds, allowing them to take their time. However, other experiences have involved being told they were 'holding up three groups' and feeling 'policed' by a course marshal. This can be influenced by the number of players, the skill level of those on the course, and how singles or smaller groups are managed. Being patient and courteous to other players is key, and understanding that some rounds may be slower than others is part of the golfing experience.
