What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Guests rave about the Weatherford Hotel's historic charm, vibrant bars with live music, and the stunning views from the Zane Grey balcony. The friendly staff and complimentary coffee are also frequently praised. However, some guests have experienced significant noise disturbances from street-facing rooms and bars, and room amenities like shared bathrooms can be a drawback for some.
"We were warmly welcomed by Bailey at check-in and she was so friendly, helpful, and full of great recommendations for dining and drinks. Room 53 was perfect and with the coolest view of the mural on the Orpheum. We enjoyed drinks at the Zane Grey on the balcony, with incredible views of Mt. Elden, the Downtowner, and the Monte V signs. The Giggle Juice is a bestseller for a reason. Somewhere in the middle of the night, we may have even heard a ghost, and in the morning we thought we might have seen one too. The stay was topped off by the best complimentary coffee we’ve ever had at a hotel. Thank you, Weatherford, we love you."

"My wife and I will always stay at the Weatherford when we come to Flagstaff.
Hotel has three bars; Charley’s on the main level, Zane Grey is on the higher level with a gorgeous veranda where you can sit outside, and the Gopher Hole which is downstairs (basement). Both Charley’s and Gopher Hole have live music which we love. It’s great to stay in a hotel where you can just go up or down and be entertained.
That being said, we had the worst experience staying there at the end of June. Our room was number 43 which we have never stayed in. Room 43 faces the street (Aspen) and has two windows directly above a concrete stairwell that leads to the Gopher Hole which can be accessed vis Aspen instead of going through the hotel.
What they don’t tell you about this room is that the bottom of this stairwell is a designated smoking area for the Gopher Hole patrons. What happens is that people go out to smoke (not only cigarettes) and will congregate for extended periods of time talking loudly as they’ve been drinking most of the night. Being that it’s in a concrete stairwell the noise has nowhere to go but up as does the cigarette smoke. You cannot open a window or get any peace to try to sleep until after the bar closes which is 2am.
We both went to the desk to complain and asked for another room. Unfortunately no other rooms were available and we were just given the canned statement that, “we’re an entertainment hotel and noise is to be expected”. Yes that we know but you didn’t tell us about that room and possibly 44 when we were checking in.
That would’ve been easy especially that we checked in on a Wednesday and they probably could’ve given us a different room.
Anyway long story short is I’ll never stay at the Weatherford again as they showed that they care more about the bar patrons than hotel guests. At $200 a night, I think a little head’s up about the room would’ve been nice."

"Loved the hotel. It's in a great spot downtown. It lets you walk around downtown and take it all in. The room we stayed in this time was nice and spacious. It did not have it's own bathroom. You share the main bathroom and showers. We did have a sink in our room. We did not shower.
The upstairs bar is great. Love the wrap around porch. The bartenders were a bit slow this time. Also, the drinks weren't as good as last time we stayed but good enough.
The restaurant in the hotel is very good."

It boasts three distinct bars: Charly's Pub & Grill on the main level, the Zane Grey Bar with its scenic balcony, and the intimate Gopher Hole in the basement. These venues often feature live music, creating a lively atmosphere that draws both hotel guests and locals, making the Weatherford a dynamic destination day and night.
Experiencing the Bars: From Balconies to Basements
Downstairs, Charly's Pub & Grill offers a more classic pub experience. This main-level establishment is known for its lively ambiance and often features live music, providing a fun and energetic environment. It's a great place to grab a drink and enjoy local entertainment. For those seeking a more subterranean adventure, The Gopher Hole in the basement provides another distinct setting, also frequently hosting live music and drawing a crowd.

Guests sensitive to noise should inquire about room locations when booking. Room Comforts and Considerations
However, it's crucial for potential guests to be aware of certain considerations regarding room assignments. Some rooms, particularly those facing the street and located near the Gopher Hole bar, can experience significant noise disturbances until the early morning hours, especially on weekends. This is due to the bar's patrons congregating in the outdoor stairwell area, which can amplify sound. Additionally, some rooms may have shared bathrooms, a detail that guests should confirm when booking if private facilities are a priority.
Despite these potential drawbacks, many guests find their rooms to be perfectly adequate and enjoyable, especially when considering the hotel's prime location and historical significance. The complimentary coffee is also frequently highlighted as a superior amenity. For those seeking a unique, historic stay, understanding these room-specific details can help ensure a more comfortable and satisfying experience at the Weatherford Hotel.
