What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors generally praise the Peninsula School of Art for its talented instructors and diverse workshops, particularly in painting and metalsmithing. The well-maintained grounds and friendly staff contribute to a positive experience. However, some guests have noted inconsistencies in the welcome they receive, with a perception that access may be prioritized for enrolled students over casual visitors.
"I took a metalsmithing class here. While I learned a lot and love my pieces, the teacher did most of the work of the students and did not allow students to freely get materials and work independently. Most students spent several hours waiting to have the teacher get materials. The teacher did so much of the process. I want my own pieces not the teacher's pieces. Please let students access all materials at their convenience and don't do the work for them. Explain the purpose of the tools and show students where specifically they are in the cabinets. Change your expectations for students, bring your own work to demo, and suggest students bring their own materials to make pieces including silver, brass and copper, not just stones. It would have been more enjoyable had I known to bring everything myself."

"I have taken a few classes here and it never disappoints. I will be coming back for more after a few wonderful experiences and the talented instructors they bring in Sarah Mann, Susan Richter-O'Connell, Melis Agabigum, and others. Love that they have a large selection of tools for the jewelry/metalspace. This place is clean, restrooms nice and roomy (handicap accessible), and the grounds are well maintained. Staff is friendly and very helpful with questions or allowing viewing pieces from the on exhibit art collections."

"Twice, I received verbal and nonverbal messaging at the front doors " You're not welcome here, if you are not in a class." A third time, I arrived in a Tesla and dressed to look like an art collector. My welcome was very different.
If I had come in with money in my first visits, Would I have been more welcome? If there was a sign that read STUDENTS ONLY at the property entrance, it would have eliminated the confusion."
