What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Travelers consistently praise the Alaska Railroad for its incredibly scenic routes and the exceptional experience offered by Gold Star service, highlighting knowledgeable narrators and good food. While the journey is often described as a 'trip of a lifetime,' some find the luggage retrieval process to be a bit disorganized.
"Wow! Super fantastic experience. The added amount for first class was worth it. The announcer, Tonya was over the top great! She really added that extra touch to the trip that made it extra special. She was so personable and was so knowledgeable about but just the railroad but other facts about the sights along the way. Be sure to buy the guide book that goes over the trip by mile post. It's a worthwhile investment and very reasonably priced. The food was very good. Don't expect crazy large portions. Normal portions and great service by the wait staff. Can't wait to go on this ride again! If I had one gripe, it'd have to be the luggage retrieval. It was a little haphazard and free-for-all-ish. Not a deal- breaker though."

"We rode the Alaska Railroad from Fairbanks to Anchorage. It was a fabulous train ride! The Gold Star service was really good. Excellent food in the dining car! Our car had a young lady that basically narrated the trip. She supplied a lot of local information. Everything from geography, trees and plants to wildlife. We were lucky to see some moose! This was the trip of a lifetime!"
