"What a great trip in September 2025. We got to see some elk standing off around putting season before getting to the park. We saw a bunch of mule deer and elk in the park as well. The views are amazing and just a majestic place. Nice easy ride through the park with plenty of scenic overlooks and plenty of parking. The weather was perfect but definitely bring some warmer clothes. I would absolutely recommend coming here to see the beauty of the USA!"

Navigating Rocky Mountain National Park
Wildlife viewing is a major draw, with elk, mule deer, bighorn sheep, and marmots commonly spotted. Dawn and dusk are the best times to see animals, particularly in areas like Moraine Park and Horseshoe Park. Remember that these are wild animals, so maintain a safe distance and never feed them. The park's altitude can affect visitors, so staying hydrated and taking it easy on your first day is highly recommended. Be prepared for rapid weather changes; layers of clothing are essential, as conditions can shift from sunny and warm to cold and windy within hours.
For hikers, RMNP offers trails for all levels. The Bear Lake area is a hub for popular, relatively easy hikes like the Bear Lake Loop, Nymph Lake, Dream Lake, and Emerald Lake. For more challenging adventures, consider trails leading to Sky Pond or Longs Peak. Trailhead parking is extremely limited, especially for popular spots, so arriving early (before 8 AM) is key to securing a spot. If you miss out on parking, have backup hike options in mind or consider using the park's shuttle system when available.
