"It’s hard to rate this scenic drive because it wasn’t very scenic. There were maybe 4 stops worth while. The big sand dune you can go down is no joke! Climbing up was no easy but was doable just be aware you pretty much have to climb up with your hands. It was a fun experience! I have an America the Beautiful pass so I didn’t have to pay to get in not sure how I’d feel paying lol but I do think its worth the visit because there’s so much beauty to see and you can explore!"

From the moment we entered, the drive through the dense forest felt peaceful and immersive. You can take it all in at your own pace, which makes it perfect for families, photographers, or anyone needing a serene escape.
There are several marked stops along the way, each offering something unique—from the charming Empire covered bridge to the jaw-dropping Lake Michigan Overlook. We even found picnic areas that invite you to linger and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature. The park is alive with wildlife; during our visit, we spotted deer, a variety of birds, coyotes, and—believe it or not—an owl that seemed to bid us farewell as we exited. What makes this experience even better is that it’s just down the road from the Sleeping Bear Dunes, so you can easily extend your adventure. We've only visited on weekends, and each time it’s been free to enter—an incredible bonus for such a rich and memorable experience.
