Reviews Summary
Reviews for Forest Hill Cemetery highlight its historical significance and potential for peaceful reflection, with many visitors cherishing childhood memories of playing on its grounds. However, some locations have faced criticism regarding maintenance and upkeep, with one reviewer detailing significant neglect of grave sites over time. While the beauty and history are often praised, inconsistent management can detract from the experience.
"I visited Forest Hill cemetery in Eau Claire in 2022 and was not able to find my Family‘s gravesites, which were completely visible in 2000 at the last family funeral. It was on the edge of the cemetery adjacent to the woods. When I pulled away at the weeds and brush, I was able to find the grave markers underneath. When I called the Cemetary manager, he said he had been meaning to clear that edge of the cemetery for sometime that had become overgrown. It wasn’t just my family’s graveside. It was the entire edge of the cemetery bordering the woods. It obviously had not been maintained since the year 2000. I was told this manager had taken over in the meantime approximately around 2010. Some of the gravesites in our family plot date back to the 1950s and they never has been a problem like this until this recent manager took over. When I complained, he agreed to clear out the brush and reseed the plot. He did clear the brush, but the plot was left barren brown dirt as of 2023 one year later. I got an estimate from the Cemetary and the Monument company of what it would entail to relocate the flat grave markers a few feet away from the woods but the cost would have been thousands of dollars. There was no offer to help with that cost, nor guarantee that the cemetery would be maintained in the future to prevent that from happening. When I called the city of Eau Claire office that manages the cemetery I got nowhere. Our only recourse was to pursue legal remedies to enforce the cemetery’s obligation to maintain the gravesites that they sell and manage for the public. But the cost of that would probably exceed relocating the gravesites."

"I too grew up playing in this cemetery. (I remember being terrified of the chapel, and I am shocked to see that people can rent them now.! Haha!!) I think it actually helped to shape me into the cemetery loving adult I am today. I would like to come back and visit some day. Thanks for the memories."
