We passed by this as we were hiking the Red Maple Swamp Trail and connecting to the Fort Hill Trail. This was a very interesting stop. We took a number of pictures. The house was not open at our time of visit but still very cool to explore and look around the property."

"Five stars for our ranger Lillibeth. She was very knowledgeable and so friendly with our two children.
I will say if you plan to visit the house when it's open, be prepared for a 40 min ranger talk before entrance to see the house. You can see both the downstairs and upstairs of the house , a few rooms are furnished. So again, if you have kids or have trouble standing for long periods of time, you will be standing/sitting on the lawn for almost an hour listening to the talk.
We enjoyed our time here, learned quite a lot about the Penniman family and whaling and enjoyed viewing the house."
