Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the Gardner Mansion and Museum, often calling it a '10/10' experience and the 'best local attraction.' The personalized, knowledgeable tours and the unique collection of historical artifacts, including Choctaw items, are consistently praised. Some minor points of feedback include the cash-only policy and the need to call ahead if no one answers upon arrival.

"I rate this venue only two stars because most of the artifacts and history of the Jefferson Gardner house disgust by the tour guide, have nothing to do with Native American history and everything to do with the tour guides family history. No photographs were allowed to be taken inside the house. Cost of entry is $10 cash only per person."

Anthony Micale

"Me and my family came here as our educational part of doing something fun and then doing something educational on our last day of vacation and all I have to offer is positivity. Our tour guide was so sweet, took time to answer all our questions, explained everything very thoroughly, and just had such a good energy in general.

Walking into the house was like walking into a time machine. The artifacts are not all of Choctaw origin they are still wonderful to experience and learn about.

10/10, 100% recommended, and would go again in a heartbeat!"

Tracy Alaniz

"Recommended experience for anyone (including children), as it fully embraces the historical and educational side of history. This property is family-owned and operated, with help from the state and others, to fully embrace the history of Jefferson Gardner's home and his relations with the Choctaw tribes that used to live on these lands. The house holds many old artifacts that were created by the Choctaw people and the owners of the home. I advise those who would like to tour the home to ask questions, since it is definitely a learning experience.

Check out the limestone flooring where the kitchen was (crazy old!), the German soldier hats upstairs mid-room, arrows/arrowheads across the house and the children's toys, women's and men's shoes upstairs. Very interesting!!

Note: When coming onto the property and after parking, knock on the house and if no answer, call the website's phone. I see other reviews in here mentioning no one answered when they came so I suggest doing this before you go or once parked. Make sure to bring cash as that is the only currency they take. Have fun 😊🩷 (Oh also, no photos!! We must protect these natural sites)."
