"Best place to go kayaking, snorkeling and just have a great time. We took our tandem and snorkel sets. Pay for entrance and parking and you are set for the day. A must come back, water is so clear and refreshing, one of the best places around to be in the water. Just be careful with the water levels and be cautious when exploring. Keep children on sight at all times."

"KP Hole was truly a magical experience. My family and I took about 4.5 hours to float to the pick up point. I enjoyed the peace and tranquility. My senior mother and younger son only lasted about 3 hours until they were over it, so maybe consider bringing children. The staff we very nice. Water felt really good because it got hot on the tube. We only saw two spots to pull off and they were hard to see. Make sure you pack food, because you'll get hungry. We didn't see any gators but saw adorable otters and turtles. The water was crystal clear. Very peaceful experience. I left feeling very "zenned out"."

"Beautiful 4-hour float down crystal-clear 72° water. Shuttle from overflow parking was a lifesaver. Tie tubes together, bring a small cooler, and pack snorkel gear, sunscreen, and water. Skip plastic bags — use resealable containers. A small oar or kayak paddle beats a hiking stick for steering. Spectacular scenery and wildlife. 5 stars."

For Different Travelers
Tailored advice for your travel style
👨👩👧 Families with Kids
When bringing children, it's important to consider their stamina. While some family members might enjoy a longer float, younger children or seniors might prefer a shorter duration, as noted by some visitors. Supervising children closely at all times is paramount, especially near the water. Packing plenty of snacks and drinks in reusable containers is essential, as food options are limited. Consider bringing snorkel gear for older children who are comfortable with it, as they'll love exploring the underwater world.
💰 Budget Travelers
While you can rent tubes or kayaks, bringing your own inflatable versions can be even more cost-effective if you plan to visit multiple times. The shuttle service from overflow parking is usually included or a small additional fee, which is a great value compared to arranging private transport. The main cost is the admission, making it a budget-friendly option for a day trip.

Exploring the Rainbow River
Visitors can enjoy tubing, a popular and relaxing way to experience the river's gentle current. For those who prefer more control, kayaking and paddleboarding are excellent options, allowing you to explore at your own pace and venture into quieter coves. The river's pristine condition also makes it a prime spot for snorkeling, where you can observe the diverse aquatic life and the vibrant underwater ecosystem.
When planning your river excursion, remember that the current can influence your travel time. While some floats are estimated at 4.5 hours, others have taken up to 6 hours, so pack accordingly. Keep an eye out for wildlife like otters and turtles, which are commonly spotted along the riverbanks. The natural beauty and tranquility of the Rainbow River make it a must-visit destination for nature lovers and water enthusiasts.
Wildlife Encounters
While the river is home to a variety of Florida's natural inhabitants, it's worth noting that alligators are present in Florida's waterways. However, sightings at KP Hole Park and the main stretches of the Rainbow River are less frequent compared to other areas. The focus for many visitors is on the more commonly observed and less intimidating wildlife, which contributes to the park's peaceful atmosphere.
To enhance your wildlife viewing experience, consider bringing snorkel gear. This allows you to get a closer look at the underwater inhabitants. Early mornings or late afternoons can sometimes offer more active wildlife. Remember to observe animals from a respectful distance and avoid feeding them to maintain their natural behaviors.
Planning Your River Float
When planning your float, it's crucial to be prepared. Tying tubes together can create a communal experience, and bringing a small cooler with snacks and drinks (non-alcoholic only) is highly recommended, as the journey can be lengthy. Visitors have noted that floats can take anywhere from 4.5 to 6 hours, so ensure you have enough provisions and are comfortable spending an extended period on the water.
For navigation and steering, a small oar or kayak paddle can be surprisingly useful, especially if you encounter slower currents or want to maneuver towards the riverbanks. Remember to pack reusable containers for all your food and drinks, as plastic bags are discouraged. The goal is to enjoy the natural beauty while minimizing your impact.
