What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the abundant wildlife and peaceful, natural setting of Halpata Tastanaki Preserve, calling it a true getaway. However, the sandy trails and minimal facilities require visitors to be well-prepared and self-sufficient. Some find the trail markings could be improved.
"I recently moved to this area. I’m so in awe of the beautiful nature in central Florida, I was able to encounter deer, red shoulder hawks, wild hare, rattle snakes, armadillos, and gopher tortoises. It is a nice place for hiking. I hope we get to protect more places that are home to wildlife, Florida native species."

"Second time cycling on these trails. Previously was August 2022 (definitely hot and northeast trails can be without any shade). A mountain bike is preferable for most of the trails as they are sandy and horse ridden. Saw Red-shouldered Hawk, deer, many Robins and heard a Gray Catbird. I think that the turtle (photo here) is a type of Cooter. Not sure which type. Many horse riders were entering the park as I was leaving.
Didn't see anyone in August, only saw one other person this time - beautiful location - but very few facilities (picnic tables and portable toilet near parking) so you need to be self-sufficient (bring water)."

"It's my go to place usually every day after work I'll drive the trailhead to see what's out. Usually have my camera with me because you never know what will be out. Apparently there's a limit on the number of photos you're allowed to upload. I've added many more but separate from this review"
