Willow Creek Hiking?

I've only heard the name and online searches are giving confusing results... is there a "willow creek hiking/walking" route that starts a little west of Occidental? Is it open to the public or would we be trespassing? Links to trail map or info much appreciated!

Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Willow Creek for its beautiful trails, especially the 'Islands in the Sky' loop, offering fantastic scenery for both hikers and mountain bikers. The mix of redwood forests and grasslands provides a diverse and serene natural experience. Some note the complex history and access nuances of the park.

"The Willow Creek Addition is a freaking great park of the Sonoma Coast State Park. Weirdly, the state has a permit process to access the park, but no longer issue permits. When I hiked around the area there were loads of hikers and bikers in the area. All respecting the land and using public land for public good. If you want a great place to hike to your hearts content, GO. The area is a mix of grassland/ ex-cattle ranch and redwood forested land. It’s top notch."

Dusty Schultz

"It's a forested trail with no direct access to Russian River or coast, but if for some reason you came all this way to see neither, then Willow Creek is just for you."
