8 Mile hike in Sydney Dover trails this morning to get some miles in. It felt so nice until the Sun became blazing hot again and the sugar sand stretches tested out our muscles. We did 2 loops of their 4 mile loop trail and it was honestly so pretty! #hiking #optoutside #floridafall

Florida heat is no joke! Bring plenty of water, especially for longer hikes. :water_wave:

Some trail sections are sandy and can be a workout! Good shoes are a must. :athletic_shoe:

Looking to find new hiking spots for when the weather cools down. What are some of your favorites? The quieter, lesser-known the better. I've done all the usuals - the state parks (except Alafia, haven't gotten there yet), Brooker Creek, Weedon Island, etc. My mileage is restricted to about 3-4 mile

Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Dover Trails Sydney for its well-maintained, multi-use paths offering a good hiking experience with abundant wildlife sightings. The park's transformation from a phosphate mine to a natural preserve is appreciated, though caution is advised regarding ticks and snakes, especially after rain.

"Great hiking loop I've been using it to get a good hike in a few times a week for several months now. Trails are well maintained and easily traveled. The main red loop is 4.5m long, there is a shorter blue loop that is a roughly 1 mile.

Lots of wildlife. I regularly encounter deer rabbits and box tortoise. Signs if hogs but I've yet to see them actually out in the day. Hawks and owls flying through the trees.

Things to be mindful of for yourself and your 4 legged companions. If the grass is high on the trail, you're going to run into ticks. I also regularly run into water moccasins on the trails especially after a rain."

"Nice long walk in the woods. Careful as the grass can be wet at times."

Firefly

"Did a 4.6mi hike at the Sydney Dover Trails today. Beautiful hike, lots of scenery. The trails are for hikers, horse riding, and bikers. Has plenty of well placed benches throughout the trail. Not too busy, easy to moderate trail."
