"The course is challenging — tight with public roads accessible to errant drives, water and creeks, thin lies. Gets wet during rain!
But, I enjoy it. Not the fanciest, but truly a working persons course. Much better to play M-R. Friday-Sun becomes so slow given that course layout.
Greens seem to be much better this year!
Putting and chipping and putting better this year.
Cost for a bucket of balls best in the area!
Cost for bottle beer while hitting bucket of balls best in the area!"

"People are prompt to criticize and complain; however, very few take the time to write a good review. The golf course is nice and challenging, it seems like they are putting an effort to improve it. The friend I went to play with has played there before and he mentioned that he has seen the improvement. For those complainers, go ahead and pay $300 at other golf courses if you think you deserve better."

"Golf was good. But the service was terrible.
First off the pro shop didn’t open till 30 min after our tee time. So my group and 3 other groups waited outside. Once open, we immidiately started playing. We were the first tee time of the day but as a 4 some we let a 2 some start.
We played as quick as we could but obviously with 4 groups starting together it was tight in the beginning, at hole 12 the ranger came up to us to tell us we were playing to slow, we already had teed off and were driving to the balls when he said this, the group behind us was not at the hole waiting so we were confused why he said it. He followed us to hole 13 and 14. Finally at 15 he waited for us again at the green and told us we were being inconsiderate. I finally told him that he must not have been aware of the delay to start and that they started us late. I showed him our screen that said we were 8 min ahead of pace, and that we only stopped for the cart girl. He changed his tone quick and apologized, even said to keep stopping for the cart girl. He followed us for 2 more holes when I finally said “sir it’s hole 17 and we’ve only been playing for 3 hours so a complete hour ahead of usual pace. He drove away and we didn’t see him again. Literally felt like we were being harassed and followed. Not sure where all this came from since the group behind us were college kids hanging out smoking cigars and having a good time so they didn’t complain.
Won’t be back and my weekly group won’t be back. They don’t care about your time and money."

Navigating the Course: Strategy and Challenges
Despite these challenges, many golfers appreciate the course for its value and the opportunity to test their skills. It's often referred to as a 'working person's course,' meaning it offers a good golfing experience without the premium price tag of more exclusive clubs. The greens have reportedly seen significant improvement, making putting and chipping more rewarding. This focus on improvement suggests a commitment to enhancing the player experience, even on a budget-friendly course.
For those looking to improve their game, the practice facilities are a major draw. The driving range, chipping area, and putting green are well-equipped and offer the best value for practice balls and even a beer in the area. This makes Costa del Sol an excellent spot for regular practice sessions or for golfers who want to get in a solid warm-up before their round.
Value and Service: What to Expect
However, the service experience can be a mixed bag. While some staff members are praised, there are notable instances of poor customer service, including late openings of the pro shop and aggressive interactions with maintenance staff. These experiences can detract from the overall enjoyment of a round. It's important for visitors to manage expectations regarding service and to be prepared for potential inconsistencies.
Despite some service shortcomings, the course management appears to be making efforts to improve the playing conditions, particularly the greens. This dedication to enhancing the course itself, combined with the low green fees, makes Costa del Sol a popular choice for those prioritizing playability and value over high-end service.
Community Insights: Real Golfer Experiences
However, the pace of play is a recurring concern. Golfers often report that weekends and holidays can lead to extremely slow rounds due to the course layout. This has led some to recommend playing Monday through Thursday for a more enjoyable and efficient experience. The course's susceptibility to rain and subsequent wet conditions is also a point of discussion, with one user noting a strict policy on rain checks for 9-hole players.
Experiences with staff can vary widely. While some encounters are positive, others highlight issues with customer service, including perceived harassment from rangers and aggressive behavior from maintenance personnel. These varied experiences underscore the importance of checking recent reviews and perhaps calling ahead to confirm details before your visit.
