What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Art League of Long Island is appreciated for its diverse art classes, particularly in ceramics and printmaking, and for hosting vibrant community craft fairs. However, some visitors have encountered issues with a rigid refund policy and found certain classes did not meet their expectations.
"I’m writing this with a heavy heart. My husband was recently diagnosed with cancer, and due to the emotional and logistical challenges that come with such a life-altering event, I needed to withdraw from a class at the Art League of Long Island. I reached out to explain our situation and asked for a reimbursement of the administrative fee, hoping for understanding in the face of a medical crisis.
To my dismay, the Art League refused. While policies are in place for a reason, I had hoped that a nonprofit centered on community, creativity, and human expression would show at least a little human decency and compassion. Instead, I was met with rigidity and indifference.
This experience left me incredibly disappointed—not just because of the money, but because of the message it sent. Life is unpredictable, and when people face hardship, institutions have an opportunity to show grace. Sadly, the Art League chose not to.
I can’t in good conscience recommend this organization to others. Art is supposed to be about empathy and connection, but my experience here suggests otherwise."

"Was BEYOND excited to go see the Judith Leiber Handbag Exhibition one Saturday afternoon. When we arrived there was a private lecture going on in the Main Gallery and was instructed to go upstairs to see Gerson Leiber's (Judith's husband) artwork. After nearly 10 minutes we went back downstairs where the private lecture was disbursing to take a look at the minaudière collection-- there were four small glass cases bearing no more than 30 of Ms. Leiber's creations...
And while these handbags are ASTOUNDINGLY beautiful, of course, we had truly hoped for more! [Honestly, I've seen more Leiber minaudière at a black tie affair than the Art League had...] Upon leaving we were invited to join a small handful of individuals to listen to lecture on "How to be happy" using Eastern practices-- Really?! What would have truly made my day is seeing more of this AMAZING designers creations..."
