Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the Belle Isle Nature Center for its free admission and engaging, educational experience, especially for young children. The variety of wildlife and hands-on exhibits are highlights, making it a perfect spot for families. While the center itself is small, its location on the beautiful Belle Isle offers much more to explore.

"We had such a great visit we came back the next day! We were on vacation last week and my 3 yr old and 6 yr old had so much fun. Our first visit was mostly outside with my younger kiddo playing in the sand and my older child making a mud soup and playing restaurant with a new friend they made. The second visit we stayed inside to cool off. We thoroughly enjoyed looking for all the critters in their habitats and learning about them as well as watching the birds cool off in the little creek. Would highly recommend a visit especially if your kids are 10 and under."

"Our school trip to the Belle Isle Nature Center was a blast! The staff was super friendly, and the exhibits were both fun and educational. We got to see snakes, salamanders, frogs, bees, and even spent time in a beautiful bird-watching area. We had such a great time — and the best part? It’s all free!"

"What a beautiful State Park and it's quite close to downtown Detroit, but you feel like you are in a different world on the island. We didn't have a great deal of time, but we drove around the island and enjoyed the river views. There's plenty to do, with a nature center, a conservatory, a zoo, sports fields, a large playground, and a fountain that must be beautiful when it's on. There's a fishing 🎣 pier too. We'll definitely be back as there's so much to see and do"
