Many enjoy the diverse range of popular artists and the overall positive vibe of the crowds. "Birthday favorite!!!
Saw The incomprable Teedra Moses & The Love King Raheem Devaughn! They did not disappoint has a ball. The breeze was just right, no issues with fighting or disruptions. Folks of all nationalities and age group enjoying themselves. I love Detroit!!
I gave 4 ⭐ because 2 things I did not appreciate was being placed in the wrong seat by an Usher and moved by another once the show started. Sadly, smoking is allowed and ppl smoked weed, cigarettes , cigars and vapes it was all toooo much 🤮 🚭 ppl who are sensitive to 🚬. They need a dedicated area or step outside. PLEASE!!!"

"My first visit to the Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre was for last night’s Jamey Johnson show, with the talented Audrey Ray opening—and it couldn’t have been better. The stage sits right on the waterfront, so you get a stunning river backdrop while the music plays. Even with steady rain, the covered seating kept everyone dry, and there was plenty of room to relax and enjoy the concert. Best of all, the acoustics were crystal-clear—every note rang out perfectly."

The Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre Experience
Despite its charm, visitors should be aware of specific venue policies. A significant point of contention is the strict no-outside-water rule, coupled with a lack of water refill stations, forcing attendees to purchase drinks at inflated prices. Additionally, while the venue is generally well-regarded for its acoustics and comfortable seating, some patrons have noted strict enforcement of rules regarding lingering in common areas, encouraging a direct path to seats.
Overall, the Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre is celebrated for bringing major musical acts to Detroit and providing a beautiful setting for live entertainment. It's a place where the community gathers to enjoy diverse genres, from R&B legends to emerging artists, all against the backdrop of the vibrant Detroit River.
Navigating Concessions and Costs
To mitigate potential frustration, it's advisable to arrive early if you plan to purchase concessions, or consider eating before you arrive. Bringing cash might also expedite the process, though the primary issue seems to be the staffing and efficiency of the concession stands. The venue's policy on outside water further exacerbates the need to purchase beverages inside, making it a significant factor in the overall cost of attending an event.
A Tribute to the Queen of Soul
Throughout Detroit, her presence is still felt, with murals and images celebrating her enduring impact on music and culture. The amphitheater itself serves as a modern-day stage for artists who carry on the traditions of soul, R&B, and gospel music, genres that Aretha Franklin so masterfully defined. Attending a concert here is not just about the performance; it's about connecting with the rich musical heritage of Detroit and honoring one of its most celebrated daughters.
