What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Des Moines Beach Park for its beautiful waterfront, relaxing atmosphere, and family-friendly amenities. It's noted as a gem that's often less crowded than other local parks, offering a pleasant escape with walking trails and picnic spots. Some minor drawbacks include seasonal restroom limitations and the pay-to-park system.
"We saw ducks, seagulls, crows. There were boats. Little restaurant. We had fun. Our daughter is hard to get out of the house but she enjoyed this beach. Picked shells out! Had fun going to the dock and she even wanted to go on the trail. It was nice to get out of the house and seeing my husband, her and my 3 year old running around!!!! My son waved at the firemen going to have lunch! Cool dogs! Everyone walking in the cold breeze but it was a gem!"

"Great local city park. Picnic shelter, event venues, various trail heads and a picturesque little foot bridge leading to an expansive grassy picnic area and of course, the beach! This park is lesser known and bodes less riff raff than its counterpart, Saltwater State Park. Two things to keep in mind: bathrooms are closed due to covid so they only have porta-potties in one location, near the trail head, away from the beach and picnic area. The second advisory is: it is a pay to park, park. Rates are very reasonable but just be aware. There may be unpaid street parking outside park entrance but I'm not positive. Overall it's a cute, quality little park. Will definitely go back."

"Pleasant area to walk around and take in the water. Walking trails behind, if feeling like more exercise. Free parking. Dog friendly, with leash, poop bags provided. Restrooms available. Leave no trace ✌💚Enjoy"
