What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Deno's Wonder Wheel Park for its nostalgic charm, friendly staff, and the iconic Wonder Wheel offering great views. The pay-per-ride credit system is seen as a flexible and economical option. However, some note that the rides are aging and could use updates, and bathroom facilities are basic.
"We took our 4 year old there and she had a great time in the kiddo park on a Friday. Almost feels like we had the entire park for ourselves. We all enjoyed the wonder wheel swing carts. Had a great time there!
The staff are friendly and very nice people. Using a preload card pay as you ride is much more reasonable than the wrist band where you have to pay for everyone when only the little one needs to ride.
However the rides are aging and not in the best shape. The bathroom is okay with one changing table."

"Overall great experience. Great rides. Would recommend with family. If you are an adventurous person who likes to get on every ride then definitely get the wristband to save money. If you are not planning to sit in all rides then they have option to pay for ones you want usually ranging from $5-$8 per ride."

"Visited Jun 7, 2024 -Dad took me and my brothers 40 years ago and I finally took my 7 daughter here for the first time. My daughter had loads of fun at the kiddie park and we went to the adult side for the bumper cars. I had to sit with her on the ride as she is only 7 so we paid double but it was worth it. Rides are $5 and the adult rides are $8. We bought the $50 card but it wasn't enough so we topped up a few dollars for the last rides. Overall, a great time 👍
I made a video on YouTube and my handle is @wilching. Take a look and if you like it 🙏 please like 👍 and subscribe🔔so I can continue to bring more great content 😊"

The Legacy of the Wonder Wheel
Many visitors highlight the panoramic views from the top of the Wonder Wheel as a major draw. It's a chance to see Coney Island from a different perspective, capturing the vibrant energy of the amusement park, the vastness of the beach, and the endless horizon of the ocean. The enclosed gondolas provide a comfortable and safe way to enjoy these vistas, making it accessible for families and those who might be hesitant on open-air rides.
The historical significance of the Wonder Wheel is palpable. It has witnessed over a century of Coney Island's evolution, surviving various eras and remaining a constant source of joy. Its continued operation by the Deno family underscores a commitment to preserving this piece of New York's cultural heritage, making a ride on the Wonder Wheel a journey through time as well as a scenic adventure.
Thrill Rides at Deno's
Beyond the Phoenix, Deno's offers a variety of other rides catering to different thrill levels. The bumper cars are a perennial favorite, providing classic, chaotic fun for groups. While the park's rides might be described as aging by some, they maintain a charming, nostalgic appeal that many visitors appreciate. The combination of classic rides and newer thrills creates a well-rounded amusement park experience.
When planning your ride strategy, consider the pay-per-ride credit system versus an all-day wristband. For those who want to experience multiple rides, especially the thrill rides, a wristband can offer better value. However, if you're only interested in a few select rides, purchasing credits individually is more economical and flexible, as they can be shared.
Family Fun and Kid-Friendly Attractions
Beyond the kiddie rides, the park offers attractions that families can enjoy together. The Wonder Wheel itself is a great shared experience, offering gentle movement and spectacular views that everyone can appreciate. The bumper cars are another classic that allows parents and children to engage in some friendly competition.
For a unique family activity, check out the Wonder Library, a free children's book exchange located near the West 12th Street entrance. It's a charming initiative that encourages reading and offers a quiet moment amidst the park's excitement.
