What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Cold Storage Beach is frequently lauded as one of the best on Cape Cod, celebrated for its exceptionally calm, clear, and warm waters, making it ideal for families. Visitors rave about the soft sand, expansive low-tide shores, and breathtaking sunsets. However, the primary drawback for non-residents is the limited parking and resident-only access, which can necessitate creative solutions.
"Great beach. Left bottom parking lot has bathrooms and a rinse station. Amazing sunsets here."

"This is best beach on the cape. We were there for the summer and tried them all, race point, coast guard, and Nauset. None of them came close. So calm you can put a pool float in and not move, a sandy bottom as far as you want to walk out, clear water where you can see your feet, warm enough starting in June you can’t beat it.
This beach is for residents only, but the beach next by, sea street is open to the public. Parking is 35 bucks there and very limited. We would drop at the beach, then one person would park our car at the closest church for free and use a bike on the rack to bike back. Truly a treasure and paradise the beach is. You will not want to go anywhere else."

"Super fun beach! Great sand super clean and low tide is the best for a super long sandy beach. High tide is fun for swimming and jumping of the rocks!!!"

Understanding Cold Storage Beach's Appeal
Many visitors highlight the beach's cleanliness and the soft, inviting sand. At low tide, the beach dramatically expands, revealing a vast expanse of sand perfect for long strolls or building sandcastles. This natural phenomenon creates a unique landscape that changes with the tides, offering a different experience depending on when you visit.
Beyond its daytime appeal, Cold Storage Beach is a renowned spot for sunset photography and viewing. The unobstructed western horizon allows for breathtaking displays of color as the sun dips below the sea, making it a popular destination for photographers and couples alike.
Navigating Parking and Access
Some resourceful visitors have shared strategies for overcoming parking limitations. These include parking at a nearby church for free and then biking back to the beach, or utilizing the limited parking at Sea Street Beach and paying the associated fee. The proximity to Sesuit Harbor also offers a unique access point, with some suggesting launching a boat and then docking to enjoy the beach.
Given these access considerations, planning ahead is crucial. Understanding the resident-only parking policy and exploring alternative transportation methods or nearby public beach options will enhance the overall experience and minimize potential frustration.
The Magic of Low Tide and High Tide
Conversely, high tide brings a different kind of enjoyment. While the sandy expanse recedes, the calmer waters become more inviting for swimming and playful activities. Visitors can also take advantage of the rocks present at high tide, offering opportunities for gentle jumps into the water. This duality ensures that Cold Storage Beach offers something enjoyable regardless of the time of day or tidal phase.
