Visiting as a tourist
Alright so I've been wanting to visit Alabama for a while now, thanks to the fact that it's the most biodiverse state East of the Mississippi. I'm a bit of nature nerd, so I'm planning a trip centered around hiking and fishing. Currently looking at Cheaha or Sipsey wilderness…

Looking to make a weekend outdoors trip up north from Mobile this weekend. Recommendations?
Dying to spend some time outdoors but the heat + humidity down here is just brutal and we are bored shitless of the beach. Was thinking about possibly escaping to the foothills up north and in the woods somewhere. I'm sure it'll still be hot af but the humidity wouldn't be as…
Roadtrip through Alabama in May
Oxford is BEAUTIFUL, especially right now. I would suggest checking out Mt. Cheaha... Its just a few minutes out of town off the interstate.

"The drive up here is fantastic! Great views from Bald rock , or pulpit rock. Bunker tower is must stop, and the country store at the top of the mountain is nice. The new hotel is currently under construction, but already looks amazing. I highly recommend driving down, or hiking down to cheaha lake. A great place to spend the day!"

"Very nice park and campground. Stayed in upper campground, and had lots of space and view into the timber. Had 2 trails out of the campground which was nice. Take all your essentials because it’s a long drive in and out. New facilities under construction that will be done in 2026, so that will help with food. Definitely worth a trip !"
Tim Johansen
"Always a great stay at Cheaha. We go every year for multiple years now. Great cabins, trails, atmosphere, scenery, deer and other wildlife, etc. Campground and cabins available to stay in. Chalets are also available. I highly recommend this park and it's cabins. You definitely won't be disappointed."
