What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Eugene O'Neill National Historic Site as a hidden gem, highlighting the excellent guided tours led by knowledgeable rangers and the beautiful, inspiring grounds. The free admission is a significant draw. However, the primary drawback is the access, which relies heavily on a shuttle service and can be inconvenient for those expecting easy parking.
"Aside from the tour, this place is an incredible place to hike up for the day… while there is super minimal parking (walking is recommended) this place is a must see if you live in the area!"

"We had an excellent visit thanks mainly to an extraordinarily excellent tour guide! Ranger Hilary was entertaining as well as knowledgeable, & so ready for our group’s endless interruptions & questions. This place is a local treasure, a must for a connoisseur of literature, & a genuinely beautiful oasis to visit on the hill.
TIP: the car will pick you up ON the street side of the Museum, NOT the parking lot. Several of us made that same mistake, but we did find clearly marked signs in time.
Best value for your buck (it’s free‽‽) in many ways."

"This a wonderful hidden gem amongst the National Parks System, and as a park in California. It accessible by appointment (as the main entrance is blocked by a closed/gated neighborhood) or through the Las Trampas Regional Park on a trail. We hit the Tao House during a holiday so did not get to go inside but the grounds and the hike to get there are beautiful. And inspires you to read Eugene O'Neill's works and get to know him."
