What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Glade Creek Grist Mill as a stunningly picturesque and iconic West Virginia landmark, especially beautiful during fall. While the crowds can be significant, many find the experience worthwhile for the photo opportunities and the charm of the working grist mill. The surrounding park offers pleasant hiking and picnic spots.
"We were in the area for a Fall vacation and had Babcock State Park on our list of must-see stops, to include the mill. It was definitely worth it. They aren't kidding when they say it is one of the most photographed locations in West Virginia. We got there a couple of minutes after 10:30 in the morning on a Sunday, which turned out to be perfect, as we found a parking spot and were able to take pictures of the mill without people in them. Within 30 minutes of arrival, though, it was swarming with tourists like us. If you want "clean" pictures, highly recommend you hit it early. A weekday would also be better, of course. The state park rangers were very friendly and helped us decide a trail hike that was 4 miles long, giving us beautiful vistas and great exercise. A wonderful place to visit."

"Busy place but it was a gorgeous crisp fall morning! Even though the water was low, there was still a good bit of color on the trees making for a picturesque Autumn scene. An iconic spot for sure—I absolutely love old grist mills!"

"What a great little park hidden in the middle of the forest with beautiful access roads very well taken care of and a really nice gift shop with just about everything that you could possibly need. The park does have camping and they also have cabins. It is free to enter and just drive down to the creek where the old mill is stationed You can go inside and take tours It's really cool interesting place to go. We also found the almost heaven swing had to get some photos with that. What a relaxing beautiful area."
