What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Baby Beach is overwhelmingly praised as an excellent spot for families with young children due to its incredibly calm and shallow waters. Visitors appreciate the free parking and convenient amenities like restrooms and showers. However, some reviews mention concerns about water quality and unpleasant odors, suggesting potential issues with nearby boat discharge, which can detract from the otherwise pleasant experience.
"The beach has potential and is great for kids — the water is calm with no strong waves, making it safe for little ones to play. However, it’s really disappointing to see what looks like sewage being dumped into the water by nearby boats. The sand is dark and has an unpleasant sewage smell, which completely ruins the experience. This place could be beautiful if properly cleaned and regulated. I hope the authorities step in to fix it."

"GREAT for small kids! There are no waves so I had no fear of my little one getting thrown about or pulled in the deep water. The beach also had a safety line for swimmers not to pass and was at a shallow level. My 5 yr old could be at this safety line and still be above water. The fire boat also came and hosed everyone, it was great. I would get there early for parking though. I got there by 10 am and luckily got the last spot in the furthest parking area."

"We love this place. Has a great protected sandy beach with fine sand, no rocks or pebbles. They have a clean bathroom next to the beach and a grassy area where several covered benches and barbecue facilities. Not far away is the Ocean Science Center where you can go inside and view the displays and fish tanks. And just beyond that is the actual peninsula with tide pools, breakwater, and a view out into the open Pacific Ocean.
If you are adventurous, there are caves that are exposed during low tide past the tide pools.
Back to the beach, there are lots of families enjoying the facilities and pick nicking on the grass or on the beach. Lots of kids playing and enjoying the sun. You will see lots of people walking the concrete paths running along the wharfs and down the beach. It is truly a beautiful place to power walk or just enjoy the clean breeze of the Pacific Ocean."

The Allure of Calm Waters
This unique characteristic transforms the beach into a natural, safe playground. Parents can relax on the sand while keeping a close eye on their little ones, and children gain confidence in the water without fear. The gentle lapping of the water creates a serene atmosphere, perfect for a relaxed beach day. It’s a stark contrast to the more boisterous surf beaches, appealing to those seeking tranquility and a worry-free environment for their kids.
Navigating Parking and Access
If you arrive later, you might find parking further away, requiring a longer walk. The good news is that the harbor area is relatively flat and has paved pathways, making the walk manageable. The proximity of restrooms and showers near the parking areas is a convenient bonus after a day at the beach.
Beyond the Sand: Harbor Exploration
For the more adventurous, exploring the breakwater and nearby tide pools during low tide can be a fascinating experience. These rocky areas can reveal a variety of marine life, offering a glimpse into the local ecosystem. The Ocean Science Center is also nearby, providing educational exhibits and aquariums for those interested in marine biology. The harbor's concrete paths are also ideal for power walking or enjoying a leisurely stroll with ocean breezes.
