What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Guests appreciate the Magnolia Building's prime downtown Dallas location and the historic charm, often highlighting the iconic Pegasus sign and friendly staff. However, some find the rooms dated with inconsistent climate control and firm beds, and a few have experienced issues with undisclosed fees.
"A great location and a very old hotel/building. So some of this isn't too surprising. But it was incredibly cold. The thermostats don't work in individual rooms. I called the front desk and they said that with how old the building is it's all centrally controlled (or something like that), nothing could be done, and that they were cold down there too. They offered to bring up blankets which was nice and did help. But we basically didn't leave our bed after that because it was so cold. It was too cold to do anything, I'm so glad that we showered before leaving our home an hour away because we would've been miserable until done drying off. I'm glad it was just one night.
The mattress was very firm. Like, extra firm, I'm trying to be nice about it but it was hard as a rock and my husband woke up at 3AM to take some ibuprofen.
Television only has a handful of channels, mostly static, once we found TNT we kinda just left it there because we couldn't find anything better.
I will say however that the hotel was very clean and the service from the employees was pretty good, my issues were with things outside of their control."

"Lots of reviews from people talking about the hotel being dated. What do you really expect from a 1920's building?
The rooms were taken care of and clean. The whole building has charm to it. My only complaint is the bed was pretty hard, and the wifi was not the best.
Incredible valet and front desk service. Fantastic location."

"I stayed here this past weekend and overall it was a nice stay. The rooms and hotel itself are a little dated. There’s no smart TV or channel guide which makes it difficult to watch tv. The most maddening part of my stay is being told there’s a $100 incident deposit that would be placed on my credit card and given back. When I got my deposit back, it was minus $50. They charged me $50 for valet and did NOT disclose that to me. Furthermore, my receipt does not show the valet charge, only my nightly rate so this hotel essentially stole from me, at this point. I will be disputing the charge and never staying here again.
EDIT TO ADD: I called to discuss them not disclosing the $50 valet charge and they said there’s nothing they can do about it and that valet is supposed to tell us which they did not. Actually, no, YOU are supposed to tell me you are charging me the $100 “incident” fee but really, it’s a $50 incident fee and a $50 valet charge. You mislead your customers and steal from them. I’ve stayed at plenty of hotels in downtown Dallas and all of them have disclosed when there’s extra fees outside of just my nightly lodging."
