What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Allegany County Courthouse for its stunning Romanesque Revival architecture and well-preserved exterior, calling it a crown jewel of Cumberland. While it's a functioning courthouse with limited public interior access, its external beauty is a significant draw for photography and architectural appreciation. Some reviews touch on negative experiences with court proceedings, but the building itself is consistently lauded.
"*can't speak on the functioning of the court itself
The court is the crown in Cumberland's historic architectural character.
I haven't had the opportunity to visit the inside and honestly not sure if that's even open to the public since this appears to still be a functioning court.
The outside looks to be well preserved and maintains the Romanesque beatut that Wright Butler designed back in the gilded age."

"During the divorce proceedings, the sale of our house was brought up and agreed upon, with the understanding that it would be put on the actual real estate market and sold at an agreed upon price, not auctioned off or sold for less than it's close to being worth in some short sale or the like. They auctioned off the house for way less than probably the double lot alone is worth! Listening is not something to be expected, actual communication is not required of them. Dictation of alternative processes is evidently their legal right, unless you can afford to fight! Nevermind what we said in court, this is what we are doing, Enjoy!"

"The building is so cool. Can’t wait to get into legal trouble so I have a reason to go inside 🙄😛"
