Reviews Summary

Silver Lake Park is appreciated for its beautiful beach and guarded swimming area, offering a pleasant place to relax. Visitors also enjoy the peaceful gazebo and nature paths away from the main beach. However, the park's primary access for Croton residents and associated fees are a significant point of contention for non-residents. Reddit

"Great little hidden gem in Croton on Hudson, with swimming and a great place to just chill out. The swimming area has lifeguards but they do charge to get in even if a resident 👎👎.

But if you go down the pathway and make a right away from the beach you'll see a fairly large gazebo. You can have lunch and walk down to the rocks and walk around or just enjoy mother nature's sounds."

"The map doesn't say it's private, I drove 2 hours to get there and have two teenagers pick you up, is this legal in the state? And I don't understand what the purpose of being private is if it is dirtier than the public ones."

Boutique Store

"It is a beautiful beach with a designated swimming area guarded with lifeguards. Open to Croton Residents Only!.Guests of residents can come with a higher fee. For residents: Adults $9, Kids/Sr $5. For Guests, Adults $14 and Kids/Sr $10. Prices lower after 5pm."

For Different Travelers

Tailored advice for your travel style

👨‍👩‍👧 Families with Kids

Silver Lake Park offers a guarded swimming area, which is a significant plus for families with children. The presence of lifeguards provides peace of mind for parents. However, the resident-only access policy is a major consideration. Families who are residents of Croton-on-Hudson will find it a convenient and enjoyable local spot. Reddit

For non-resident families, the higher guest fees need to be factored into the budget. The gazebo area also provides a nice spot for a family picnic away from the main beach crowds. Ensure you check the latest fee structure and operational hours for the lifeguards before your visit. Reddit

💰 Budget Travelers

Budget travelers should be aware that Silver Lake Park's pricing structure can be a deterrent. The park is primarily for Croton residents, and non-residents face higher admission fees. If you are not a resident, the cost of entry, especially for multiple people, might make it less appealing compared to other public parks. Reddit

Visiting after 5 PM can offer reduced fees, which might be a good strategy for budget-conscious visitors. Alternatively, exploring the areas around the park or focusing on the gazebo and nature paths (if accessible without beach entry) could be a free or low-cost option. Reddit

Understanding Resident Access

Silver Lake Park's access policy is a significant point of discussion among visitors. It's primarily designated for residents of Croton-on-Hudson, with non-residents facing higher fees or potential exclusion. This policy has led to frustration for some visitors who travel long distances only to find access limited. Reddit

For residents, the fees are structured with different rates for adults and children/seniors. Guests of residents also pay a fee, which is higher than the resident rate. It's crucial to verify the current fee structure and guest policies before planning a visit, as these can change. Reddit

Some reviews express strong opinions about this exclusivity, suggesting that public spaces should be more accessible. If you are not a resident, be prepared for potentially higher costs or the possibility of not being able to access the main beach area. Reddit

Exploring Beyond the Beach

While the beach is a primary attraction, Silver Lake Park offers more than just swimming. A pathway leading away from the beach, to the right, reveals a large gazebo. This area is perfect for picnics and provides a more tranquil setting than the main beach. Reddit

From the gazebo, you can walk down to the rocky areas surrounding the lake or simply sit and enjoy the natural sounds. This offers a different perspective of the park, allowing visitors to connect with nature in a quieter environment. It's a great spot for those looking for a peaceful retreat or a break from the beach activities. Reddit

These less-advertised spots provide a valuable alternative for visitors, especially if beach access is restricted or if they simply prefer a more serene experience. The walking paths around this area also offer opportunities for light exploration and enjoying the park's natural beauty. Reddit
