Stout Grove Memorial Trail in the Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park - Crescent City, California. Words cannot describe how magestic this forest truly is. “Stout Grove is the world’s most scenic stand of redwoods. It’s not all that large, and it doesn’t have the biggest trees, but for sheer photogenic beauty nothing beats this extraordinary grove on a sunny afternoon.” #california #crescentcity...

Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise Stout Memorial Grove for its breathtaking beauty and accessibility, calling it a 'hidden gem' and a 'must-do.' The short, flat trail makes it perfect for families and those with mobility issues, offering a magical experience among ancient redwoods and by the serene Smith River. The main drawback is the limited parking, which can fill up quickly.

"This is simply beautiful spot to visit while in the park. It offers a good taste of the redwoods with little effort. The trail is clear and mostly flat save for a small slope at the very beginning. This would be a great option for young kinds or people with mobility limitations. You could easily walk This trail in 15 minutes, but will probably take you much longer because you'll not want to miss anything. DO NOT skip this one!"

"Absolutely gorgeous hidden gem - hike through the big trees and you'll find yourself at the edge of a beautiful waterway with pebble beaches. Loved the big trees and the kids were able to climb on a few that had fallen and were laying on their sides. Easy, level hike for a family with a wide and comfortable trail width. We were greeted by a very friendly a Stellar Jay on arrival."

Melinda Guinn

"My favorite grove in the entire Redwood State/National Park system. It's so clean and tidy, it almost looks like someone comes in at the end of the day and sweeps/cleans up lol. Just immaculate looking, from the deep red redwood straw on the paths, the dense growth of redwood sorrel around the trees, the regal looking redwood trees look so healthy and proud, it's just an utterly amazing place! You can also walk down to the Smith River to get some nice open skies and expansive views. Very flat area, easy for all ages and abilities to walk around. I could have spent hours here just enjoying the sounds of nature, it is such a peaceful and relaxing place. The parking lot is small and fills up quickly, so getting there early is advisable."

The forest floor is carpeted with redwood sorrel and a thick layer of redwood needles, creating a soft, springy surface underfoot.
