There’s something unsettling about Mingus Mountain. The air feels heavier up here, like it’s holding onto secrets it doesn’t want to let go. I’ve heard the stories—Skinwalkers, witches, spirits that wander after dark—but today, I stumbled on something that made all those stories feel a little too real. A skull. Placed deliberately on an old stump, alone in the middle of nowhere. No tracks, no expl...

Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the breathtaking panoramic views of the Verde Valley, making it an ideal spot for photography and family outings. The opportunity to explore surrounding Forest Service roads and the historic town of Cherry adds to the appeal. However, some note that road conditions can be rough, and gates may be locked, requiring a walk to the viewpoint.

"If you want a great view of the Verde Valley this is the place to start. You can see how expansive it is and also see the Sedona Red Rocks and Flagstaff's Mt Humphries.
Also as you head back down the Forest Service Road 104 Turn left on FR 413. Just past the Methodist Camp.

I also suggest, if you have a high clearance vehicle to take the Forest Service road 104 to FR 413 and then FR 132 to Cherry. It is a collection of everything the Prescott Forest has to offer with ponderosa pines, expansive views of the Verde Valley, the rugged and dense National forest. You end up in the small residential place called Cherry. An old Gold Mine gone bust town. Now a residential get away. Stop by the Cherry Volunteer Fire Dept. and Cherry Cemetery.

From Cherry you can go North to the RT 260 Highway and South the RT 169."
