What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise The Umbrella Arts Center for its intimate theater with no obstructed views, excellent sound and lighting, and diverse programming including plays, concerts, and art exhibitions. It's seen as a valuable community arts hub. However, some have found specific programs, like certain art camps, to be overpriced and not well-suited for older children.
"Went to the theater for a play.
It was a terrific experience.
It's smallish with seating for 250-300 patrons.
There are no obstructed -view seats!!
It wider that deep so all seats are reasonably close to the stage
Seats were comfortable, though one of our group felt that they were getting a bit compressed and might need replacing soon
Sound and lighting are first rate and getting in and out of the theater was quick and easy
This is a venue well worth the price of admission.
Additionally, there was an art exhibit in what passes as the lobby area
The concession has soft drinks as well as beer and wine with a couple of food items."

"Art Camp Misleading, Overpriced, and Poorly Managed – Not for Older Kids
I’m extremely disappointed with this camp and feel misled by the staff. I specifically asked whether the program was appropriate for a 7th grader and was told there would be several others her age. That was not true. There was only one other child close to my daughter's age—the rest were far younger, making the environment and planned activities entirely unsuitable for a teenager.
After just one day, my daughter refused to go back, and I fully support her decision. Despite that, we were charged $275 for a single day.
This experience was a complete waste of time and money. Worse, it disrupted my daughter’s week and left her feeling disappointed and isolated. What’s even more frustrating is that this situation could have been avoided with honest communication.
Parents—if you have an older child, think twice before trusting the assurances given by this camp. I would absolutely not recommend it, and I will be sharing this experience wherever appropriate to help others avoid the same mistake."
