What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Green Lawn Cemetery is widely praised for its beauty, historical significance, and the peaceful atmosphere it offers. Visitors appreciate the well-maintained grounds and the opportunity to see the graves of notable figures. However, some reviews mention challenges with upkeep in certain older sections, with a call for more attention to the preservation of aging headstones.
"Update: They Responded and went above and beyond. I actually was in tears reading what they wrote to me in the response. Thank you. Seriously. Thank you! A gorgeous cemetery that seems to be well taken care of for the most part but whoever owns this place needs to get more help to clean the older graves. Was sad to see, Margaret hamilton's, who was best know as the wicked witch from the original wizard of oz, sisters grave Gladys Hamilton Mohler in bad shape and can't even read her first name on it very well. So if someone who loves cleaning graves reads this or someone who cleans the graves who is employed at the cemetery reads this please go clean her grave and whoever else's that needs to be cleaned up."

"A truly beautiful cemetery! My wife and I visited a few weeks ago to see some of the graves of the many famous people buried there. We found the cemetery to be very well kept, clean and attractive. The staff especially, Margaret was very kind and helpful. You can tell that there is a real sense a caring by the stewards of this cemetery. We were very impressed. Families with loved ones here can be assured that these grounds are being respected and well cared for."

"Lovely old historic cemetery that hosts many of Columbus’s founding families (the Sullivants, Goodales, Neils etc.) You could easily walk around the cemetery for hours if you wished - it’s quite a large cemetery (one of the biggest in Ohio I do believe). There are overturned tombstones and gopher holes (or perhaps zombie breakouts?), perhaps that’s normal in a large cemetery like this but maintenance clearly has a difficult time keeping up.
It’s really nice if you just want to walk around and enjoy the serenity. There’s lots of trees and such that give it a unique atmosphere."
