Reviews Summary
Reviews for 'Gravity Project murals' are not available as this refers to public art installations. The provided reviews pertain to 'Gravity Apartments', a residential complex, and discuss staff helpfulness, maintenance, community events, and some negative experiences with management and security.
"Gravity is amazing. The building itself is awesome (love the rooftop, our two bedroom is fabulous, and the staff is great).
More specifically on staff - Sarah has been extremely helpful, no matter the issue. She's been quick to fix whatever it is. Super communicative, very friendly, and knowledgable.
Personally, I think people stay in an apartment not only because of a lovely spot, but also due to amazing staff. We will definitely be here a long time!"

"The staff at this apartment complex is exceptional—friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely attentive to residents’ needs. Manar and Sarah are great!!! Maintenance is outstanding, often resolving issues on the same day. The location is ideal, offering stunning views that elevate the living experience. The complex fosters a strong sense of community with frequent events for tenants and neighbors. The only drawbacks are the additional monthly parking fee and the noise from passing trains. Overall, a fantastic place to call home!"

"From the moment I moved in, it has been one issue after another. I was given the wrong apartment on move-in day, which delayed my move and caused a massive inconvenience—and management did absolutely nothing to make it right. Packages went missing for weeks, only to be found later sitting in the leasing office the entire time after staff claimed they weren’t there. My car was vandalized and broken into twice within two weeks while security is on site doing only God knows what.
What makes this worse is the management itself. Maria Conner, the property manager, is extremely unprofessional, passive aggressive, and dismissive of residents’ concerns. She brushes off legitimate issues, avoids accountability, and makes it nearly impossible to get answers. She refused to give me any of her higher up’s information. If you email or call the office, good luck getting a response—you’ll likely have to physically go in person just to be acknowledged.
I’ve had to deal with incorrect rent notices, a constantly running toilet that management ignored and told me was normal just for my water bill to spike up to $300 (normally $40), and claimed it wasn’t their issue, and customer service that makes you feel like you’re the problem for speaking up.
This place is poorly run, unresponsive, and unsafe. You’re better off spending your money somewhere that respects its residents and actually addresses problems when they arise. I’ve never had issues anywhere in Columbus like the ones I’ve had here."

In-depth insights and expert knowledge
The Art of the Mural
One popular method highlighted is the 'doodle grid' technique. This approach involves dividing a reference image into a grid and then meticulously recreating each section on the wall. This ensures accuracy in scaling and allows for the development of incredibly detailed and complex designs. It's a testament to the skill and patience of muralists, turning a simple concept into a breathtaking visual experience.
Beyond the technique, the Gravity Project emphasizes showcasing local talent. By commissioning artists from the community, the project fosters a connection between the art and its surroundings, making the murals feel integral to the neighborhood's character. This collaborative spirit is evident in the diverse styles and themes you'll encounter, from abstract patterns to narrative scenes.
Capturing the Masterpieces
Daylight hours are crucial for capturing the true essence of the murals. The golden hours—shortly after sunrise and before sunset—are particularly ideal, as they provide soft, diffused light that minimizes harsh shadows and brings out the richness of the colors. Midday sun can often wash out details or create unflattering contrasts.
When composing your shots, think beyond a simple frontal view. Experiment with angles, get up close to highlight intricate details or textures, and try to incorporate elements of the surrounding environment to add context. Some artists even suggest using tricks like drawing a straight line with a chalk line for a unique effect, demonstrating that creativity extends to how the art is captured.
Artist Business Insights
As one artist shared, it's crucial to charge appropriately for mural work. They advise pricing based on commercial painter rates for solid colors, suggesting that intricate mural work should command a higher fee. This highlights the importance of valuing your time, skill, and the complexity of the artwork.
Furthermore, understanding the process of creating a mural is key. From initial sketches and design approvals to the execution on a large scale, each step requires careful planning and execution. Techniques like the 'doodle grid' are not just artistic choices but also practical solutions for scaling and detail, demonstrating a professional approach to commissioned art.
