For Different Travelers
Tailored advice for your travel style
👨👩👧 Families with Kids
While the boat ramp is available, the shallow waters near the seawall might pose a challenge for larger boats. For a relaxed family day, focusing on swimming, picnicking, and enjoying the scenic views is recommended. The beautiful beach and oceanic setting provide a pleasant backdrop for a family day out.
🎣 Anglers and Boaters
Boaters using the ramp should exercise caution due to the notoriously shallow waters near the seawall. Even with a shallow draft boat, you may need to trim your motor or use a trolling motor to navigate safely, especially during low tides. Some visitors have expressed a desire for dredging to improve access. If you plan to boat, be prepared for these conditions or consider visiting at high tide.

Navigating the Waters: Boating and Fishing
For those interested in fishing from the shore or dock, it's important to be aware of local regulations. A Maryland fishing license is typically required. The shallow waters might also influence the types of fish you can expect to catch near the immediate shoreline. While specific fish species aren't mentioned in the reviews, the Chesapeake Bay is known for its diverse marine life, including bluefish, rockfish (striped bass), and various panfish.
The Sunset Experience
While the sunset is a major draw, visitors should be aware of potential natural elements. Some reviews mention finding baby jellyfish washed ashore. Although the area is considered safe for swimming, it's a good reminder to be mindful of your surroundings, especially with children. The advice to limit time spent directly on the sand if jellyfish are present is a practical tip for maximizing enjoyment of the beautiful beach and oceanic views.
