What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Sycamore Pool is lauded as a beautiful, free natural oasis perfect for summer relaxation and swimming, with live music adding to its appeal. However, concerns about water safety due to bacteria levels and issues with off-leash dogs detract from the experience for some visitors.
"Really nice spot to relax and take in the day. Sadly not always able to swim at but if possible would be a great gathering spot"

"Sycamore Pool is an absolute gem in Chico, CA! This hidden oasis in Lower Bidwell Park is a must-visit during the summer. The crystal-clear waters surrounded by lush greenery create a stunning natural setting. The atmosphere here is incredibly relaxing, and it's perfect for a family outing or a peaceful day by the water. The water is refreshing and clean, making it ideal for swimming. There are also picnic areas nearby, making it a great spot for a picnic with friends and family. I appreciate the efforts made to maintain the park, as it's always clean and well-kept. The staff is friendly and helpful, ensuring a pleasant experience for everyone. Whether you're a local or just passing through Chico, Sycamore Pool is a hidden paradise that you won't want to miss. "Clearly pet owners are more important than people. While signs prohibit dogs, they were everywhere. Imagine sitting on the grass next to the water area to picnic, but you sat in a spot the dogs pee on. Dog owners here do not care" we come here all the time, and nobody cares if we have the dog". WRONG! THIS IS NOT A DOG PARK. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE."

Understanding Water Safety
It's crucial to check the latest advisories from the Butte County Public Health Department before planning a visit for swimming. These advisories are posted to ensure public safety. When advisories are in effect, it is strongly recommended to avoid swimming or allowing children to play in the water.
While the natural beauty of the pool is undeniable, prioritizing safety by staying informed about water quality is essential for a positive and healthy experience at Sycamore Pool.
Park Etiquette and Community Harmony
One recurring point of feedback from visitors is the issue of pets. Despite clear signage prohibiting dogs in the immediate pool and picnic areas, some pet owners have been observed disregarding these rules. This can detract from the experience for those seeking a clean, dog-free environment.
Adhering to posted regulations, such as leash laws and designated pet areas (if any exist elsewhere in the park), helps ensure that Sycamore Pool remains an enjoyable and accessible destination for all members of the community.
Summer Events and Atmosphere
This adds an extra layer of appeal to the natural beauty of the pool and its surroundings. Visitors can relax on the grassy knolls, enjoy a picnic, and listen to local musicians, creating a festive and communal experience.
These events are a great way to experience the local culture and enjoy the warm weather in a relaxed setting. It's worth checking local event listings or the City of Chico Parks and Recreation for specific dates and performers.
