What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise St. John Cantius Church for its breathtaking beauty, reverent traditional liturgies, and impressive collection of sacred relics. Many describe the experience as heavenly and spiritually uplifting, with exceptional music and a welcoming congregation. Some wish they lived closer to make it their regular parish.
"What most people don’t realize is that this church holds over 1,800 relics from more than 450 saints. You can actually tour them in the back. These relics are tangible pieces of history, skulls, fingers, garments, living evidence of the saints themselves. The church is beautiful on its own and worth a visit even without the relics, but in the main sanctuary they even have Padre Pio’s relic on display."

"Very beautiful and traditional church with very reverent masses, both TLM and novus ordo. Felt like I was in heaven attending mass here. Plenty of young families going here for mass. This is what every Catholic Church should strive to be like, Gregorian chant, communion at the communion rail, ad orientem and latin. Also offer Latin, Greek and Hebrew classes. The only thing I don’t like about St. John Cantius is that I don’t live close by. It would be my parish if I lived around Chicago."

"Visited this church to see a High Latin mass. First of all, the church's interior is beautiful. It rivals any cathedral in Europe, in its decor and opulence. The music is also top notch. The mass was set to Mozart's Coronation mass when I attended and it was amazing to see the music played in the setting it was intended for. The mixture of artistry and spiritually are something to experience. They have books to follow along the Latin portions. Highly recommend attending a mass, even if non catholic."
