What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors find the Riverwalk pathway enjoyable and the historical signage informative, offering a glimpse into the area's industrial past. However, some areas near the furnace can be unpleasant due to dirt and a feeling of unease, particularly when accompanied by young children. The site's accessibility can also be a concern, with muddy trails after rain.
"We walked along the river and continued our way to that park, the pathway was cool and we enjoyed it, but the part under the bridge was unfortunately unpleasant: there was a strong smell of urine, it was dirty, and there was a couple of gentlemen hanging out there who made us feel a bit uneasy walking there with 2 young kids, who were themselves a bit creeped out.
Other than that we enjoyed it, and the kids loved running on the zig zag pathway going up!"

"It's the site of an old furnace and not very accessible. There is some signage on the Riverwalk above the site. There used to be a large printed art installation made of flimsy materials visible from the signage."

"This was not on Google when I was researching the area prior to my visit. I was surprised to walk into this historic site. It has 4 large signs displaying the history of the park. There is a trail that appears to lead to an area closer to the back of the Hunter Museum. I didn't walk back there because it has been raining for 2 days and the trail appeared to be muddy from when I was standing."
