What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise UNC Chapel Hill's superb education, excellent reputation, and beautiful, well-maintained campus with historic architecture. The diversity of students and faculty is noted positively. However, some reviews mention a feeling of the university being a 'brand' that can stifle individuality, and concerns about inclusion despite diversity, as well as limited cultural diversity in the surrounding town.
"Touring as a kid, UNC seemed to be really well put together as a campus. Felt extremely navigable, and the architecture of the buildings made it distinct from the rest of the surrounding landscape. Loved the water fountain for good luck and the bell tower. Great visit, and it's also a very relaxing place to take a walk under great big trees with lots of shade in the spring and summer. Highly recommend! Go tar heels..."

"PROS:
Education is superb. School has an excellent reputation & funding. Saw diverse (race, gender, LGBTQ+) representation in students and faculty.
CONS:
The university is a brand, and that stifles personal identity & creativity. Saw a double standard for black students vs white students. Saw diversity but didn't experience inclusion. The town is privileged with little to do and little cultural diversity."

"It's kinda hard finding your way around at first, but there are plenty of helpful people to help you find where you need to go, they have 3 different cafeterias with a good selection of foods, and I think the food was pretty good. The nurses were extremely nice and made sure they wecwere taken care of."
