Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Frenchtown Road Conservation Area for its natural beauty, peaceful atmosphere, and diverse trails, particularly the unique bamboo forest and river access. Some note the inconvenience of potentially closed bathrooms and the need for bug protection during warmer months.

"Walking trails! This is a nature preserve conservation area, please do not litter or leave any traces. It's nice and quiet just like I like it👍"

"This is hands down one of my favorite local trails especially since it's here in Central. If you take the green wood loop forward and then backward and include the bamboo Trail on one of those trips you can make a perfect 5 mi hiking trip out of it which takes about 2 hours depending on how much you want to explore spur trails in take your time with butt breaks along the way.

Highly recommend bringing plenty of water as the tributaries are mostly dried up unless previous rain came through. Don't be afraid of bugs Just make sure to wear hiking pants that are lightweight breathable and water resistant and highly recommend using a sun hoodie so that you can pull the hood up if they start flying around your ears. That and a bottle of Sawyer picardin lotion with 20% is highly recommended on a trail like this during the summer. Spray down your gear with permethrin the night before and the bugs won't even come near you.

The only complaint I have is that every time I've gone the little education center appears to be closed which wouldn't be that big a deal except they locked the bathrooms on the ground floor when they're not there. So you better be able to hold it or get comfortable hiking off trail for a little "privacy". Leave no trace!!!

There are a few narrow places and there's very mild elevation up and down throughout but nothing that'll get your heart pumping more than running from a horse fly."
