What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
McKinney Roughs Nature Park is lauded as a hidden gem with beautiful, diverse trails and a welcoming visitor center. Visitors appreciate its natural beauty, dog-friendly atmosphere, and opportunities for swimming in the Colorado River. However, some find the trail labeling to be poor, making navigation challenging without a dedicated app.
"Beautiful park with many trails of varying distances. Visitor’s center is gorgeous and very welcoming with impeccable clean bathrooms. All trails are dog friendly. There are a couple of buildings next to the visitor center, but since we had dogs, we couldn’t get inside, so not sure what those are. Admission fee is $5 per adult/day. The only bad thing is that the trails are poorly labeled, but we were told at the visitor center that if you use the application AllTrails, you should be fine."

"A bit challenging but not too bad. The terrain is very diverse. The loop we did was 5 miles. It has amazing views. Well taken care of and clean. We went on a weekday and it was pretty much empty which we enjoyed."

"This place is a hidden gem! There are plenty of trails here. Don't forget to pick up a trail map from the visitor center. We happened to stop by on Halloween weekend, and they had lots of fun activities for the families l and trick or treating on trail. Our dog enjoyed the trail very much and took a swim in the Colorado River. I'd definitely come back."
