Reviews Summary

Edaville Family Theme Park has undergone significant changes, with many former rides removed to accommodate King Richard's Faire. While some visitors appreciate the Faire's unique atmosphere and entertainment, others express disappointment over the loss of traditional amusement park attractions and the high cost of admission and extras.

"My 3 year old grandson loved it. Pretty expensive for what you get. $50 for entrance and a train ride. Then 5 dollars to walk into the petting zoo!"

Stephen Carreira

"The seasonal home of King Richard's Fair, the theme park is put to good use as a Renaissance fairgrounds. Many of the wonderful shops selling fantay maps, pirate costumes and jewelry, as well as many other great items, now have their own enclosed spaces. Other shops are still in stalls and under tents scattered throughout the location.

Featured performers still have scheduled events throughout the day. We watched Hey Nunny Nunny (religious humor), a magician/illusionist, and the Mud Show. The jousting grounds are also in operation with all of the pomp and fanfare. Seating for the joust is lackluster (if you want to sit, there is a couple of terraced patches of grass.)

Food was expensive, but the portions were big, and the quality was decent. Any of the vendors that sell fountain drinks can refill water bottles for you, so bring an empty bottle to save on beverages.

Restrooms are port-a-potties only, with no running water, which was disappointing. The rides were also underwhelming. There were a few attractions aimed at smaller kids, but the feature is not a big enough attraction for my 11 yr old to want to ride any of them.

My overall impression is that I paid $46 to see some open air entertainment, and for a chance to shop overpriced fantasy themed clothing and props. A great deal of thenwares were handmade, so not all of it is overpriced, but the food has hit ridiculous levels, in particular, so plan on spending $20+ per person if you go, and bring lots of money if you want some genuine fantasy or medieval costumes, props, or handmade goods."

"So this was King Richard’s faire's new home. Amazing to see how they are turning the old edavulle into the new Carvershire. Pictures are the plague dr show, one of the best street performers there. So funny and great to have your picture taken with them! Get a "shot" to avoid the plague! Clever and witty."

The Evolution of Edaville

Edaville Family Theme Park has undergone a significant transformation. Originally a beloved amusement park featuring rides like Thomas the Train, it has largely transitioned into the seasonal home of King Richard's Faire. This means many of the classic rides that families once cherished have been removed or are no longer operational.Reddit Visitors should be aware that the park's current identity is more aligned with a Renaissance fair experience than a traditional theme park.

The shift has been met with mixed reactions. While some appreciate the unique offerings of King Richard's Faire, long-time visitors express nostalgia and disappointment over the loss of familiar attractions. The park's history as a place for train rides and vintage amusement park staples is a significant part of its past, and this change has erased much of that legacy for some.Reddit

Understanding this evolution is key to planning a visit. If you're seeking a traditional amusement park experience with a wide array of rides, Edaville may not meet those expectations anymore. However, if you're interested in the immersive atmosphere, unique shopping, and entertainment of a Renaissance fair, it can still offer a memorable outing.

Navigating King Richard's Faire

The primary attraction at Edaville Family Theme Park for much of the year is King Richard's Faire. This vibrant Renaissance fair transforms the grounds into a medieval village, complete with costumed characters, artisan shops, and live entertainment. Visitors can expect to find a wide variety of unique goods, from handmade jewelry and fantasy maps to elaborate costumes and props.Reddit

Entertainment is a cornerstone of the Faire. Scheduled performances include jousting tournaments, musical acts, comedic troupes like 'Hey Nunny Nunny,' and skilled magicians. Interacting with the street performers, such as the plague doctors, can be a highlight for many, offering both humor and memorable photo opportunities.Reddit The atmosphere is designed to be immersive, encouraging visitors to step back in time.

While the Faire offers a rich experience, it's important to note that food and merchandise can be expensive. Many vendors sell handmade items, which contributes to the cost. Visitors often recommend bringing a reusable water bottle for refills to manage beverage expenses. The overall experience is geared towards entertainment and unique shopping, rather than traditional amusement park thrills.

Seasonal Attractions and Holiday Magic

Beyond King Richard's Faire, Edaville Family Theme Park is known for its seasonal holiday attractions. During the Christmas season, the park transforms into a winter wonderland, often featuring extensive light displays that families enjoy.Reddit These events aim to provide a festive atmosphere for visitors looking for holiday entertainment.

However, the nature and inclusion of these attractions have also been subject to change and criticism. Some past visitors have expressed disappointment that certain elements, like petting zoos or Santa visits, may now incur additional costs or be less prominent than in previous years. The park's offerings during these times are designed to be family-friendly, but it's crucial to verify what is included with admission.

For those planning a visit during a holiday period, it's advisable to check the Edaville website for specific event details, pricing, and what activities are guaranteed. This will help manage expectations and ensure a more enjoyable experience, especially for families with young children who might be anticipating specific holiday-themed activities.
