What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the market's vibrant atmosphere, diverse prepared food options, and unique artisan crafts. The park setting is a definite plus. However, some find the produce prices to be excessively high, and a few have noted issues with staff attitude and market ventilation.
"This place is The Bomb! Great places that are under cover, so the sun not beating on you. Farm fresh produce, Bread, Meats, Fish, etc. Made fresh food to eat dishes, we were Around the World. First, we had Taco's (3 Different ones) Then we split a Bison Steak Sandwich and some Lemon Truffles (W0W). Everthing we had was Delicious 😋! Art's & Craft's for all kinds of fines! We are there every Saturday that we can...."
Ed McMurphy
"Disappointing experience at this market. Overpriced products and a poorly ventilated setup with pop-up tents under a covered area made it feel stuffy. The staff's ( especially the wicked woman running the market) attitude was off-putting, borderline sickening and entitled . I wouldn't recommend visiting this market. Maybe if they can improve their setup and customer service, but for now, I'd say skip it."

"Lots to look at, listen to and taste! Had a fabulous Al Pastor Taco from Palabra Miel and the Karson Kruisers were in the park with more food truck and music. Note the market is now at Mills Park and not downtown anymore. There was plenty of parking."

Navigating the Market's Offerings
When it comes to produce, reviews indicate that prices can be on the higher side, with some vendors sourcing from California. This means you might find items like tomatoes or strawberries priced significantly higher than at a typical grocery store. However, the quality and freshness are often praised. For those interested in prepared foods, the market offers a diverse culinary journey, with options ranging from authentic tacos to hearty sandwiches and delightful desserts.
Beyond shopping, the market often hosts special events. The presence of the Karson Kruisers car club, for instance, adds a nostalgic and entertaining element, often accompanied by music and additional food trucks. This makes the market not just a place to shop, but a community gathering spot. Remember that while pets are allowed in the park area, they are restricted from the main vendor enclosure.
Understanding Vendor Pricing and Value
Despite the higher prices, the quality and freshness of the produce are generally well-regarded. Visitors who prioritize farm-freshness and are willing to pay a premium often find the offerings to be excellent. However, for budget-conscious shoppers, it's advisable to compare prices carefully or focus on other aspects of the market. The market also features vendors selling baked goods, with some bread vendors experiencing long lines due to high demand, suggesting a perceived value in their products.
When evaluating the value, consider the overall experience. The market offers a pleasant park setting, a wide array of crafts, and diverse prepared food options. While the produce might be pricier, the opportunity to support local artisans and enjoy unique food creations contributes to the overall appeal. It's a trade-off between cost and the unique market experience.
