While recovery from recent hurricanes is ongoing, visitors find the island's charm and resilience inspiring. Some guests note the presence of noseeums at night and occasional cleanliness issues in stores.
"Well, it's a big island. Like Sanibel, Gasparilla etc, lots of white sand and shells. Canals and mangroves where you can use the boat. The noseeums are pretty annoying in the night so, don't forget the bugs pray"
Ernesto Vazquez Vazquez
"Visited the island over the weekend, family road trip. I am pleased that they are trying to restore after hurricane Ian. Enjoyed the trip. Thank you."
John West
"I was first at Captiva Island and a couple of years ago prior to Hurricane Ian. It was by far one of the most magical beaches I had ever seen. I love the locals, shops and atmosphere. We returned about three weeks ago. Although it looks nothing like it used to after 2 devastating storms, it is still magical and beautiful. It's a recommended place to go if you've never been. Make sure to support the businesses. The good people in this area deserve it."
