What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about Hector Falls' impressive roadside accessibility and its dramatic plunge into Seneca Lake. While the convenience is a major draw, the limited and potentially hazardous parking on a busy road is a significant concern for many. Some suggest boat tours for the best views, but the sheer power and proximity of the falls make it a worthwhile, albeit brief, stop.
"It is one of the most accessible falls in the area (meaning, you can walk right up to it and get wet). Pay attention to the private property signs just to the west side of the overpass. The overpass gives great shade on a sunny day. There are no bathrooms nearby."
Paul Dexter
"Hector Falls is beautiful! The falls is huge & right next to the road. The bottom of the falls crosses under the bridge & has another large drop. It flows by a homestead to the lake. I attached photos from both sides. There's history here as well.
There are 2 pull off areas on the road (one on each side) that can accommodate about 3 vehicles each. It's a busy road, so be careful. It's worth stopping at, and I recommend it highly."

"These falls are immediately on the side of a very scenic drive of Seneca Lake. Parking is limited as you need to pull over but no one really stays too long. It’s well worth the stop as the falls are quite impressive as the waters flow directly into the lake. Well worth the short drive from nearby Montour/Watkins Glen."
